You may recall the adorable Hall family who were the winners of our Unfrozen Winter contest earlier this year. Check out their adorable snowman submission!
Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning sent the family on a Disney Cruise and covered airfare for four. Mom and Dad (Rebecca and Bradley) took their two oldest children, Korbin and Brooke, on their Disney Cruise during mid-summer. This was the first cruise for Korbin and Brooke and the first in about 10 years for Rebecca and Bradley.
“I can’t even begin to describe all the fun we had and how absolutely wonderful the whole experience was,” wrote Rebecca. “It was a trip we could have never taken on our own. Disney does cruising right!”
The Halls were sweet enough to send over their itinerary and some photos from their amazing trip. If you’re interested in taking a Disney Cruise, or just looking to see what it’s all about, read on to see the highlights from the Hall’s vacation.
We were on the water for 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) and then ported in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. We booked a Catamaran and went out with 4 other families all day. It was my son and daughter’s first time snorkeling and they were in heaven. We got to see turtles and stingrays – it was probably the best experience of the whole cruise!
We sailed from Tortola to St. Thomas in the American Virgin Islands, where we were able to snorkel some more, swam, and laid out on the beach. The water was really that turquoise blue you always see in pictures – truly picture perfect.
We were on the ship all day Wednesday and then got off at Castaway Cay, Disney’s Exclusive Island. The water was very blue and had clear visibility beneath, so of course we had to do more snorkeling! They placed a bunch of Mickey Mouses you could look for underwater, which was nice because there weren’t as many fish. They also had an 18+ beach which we enjoyed while Korbin and Brooke played games. They had staff everywhere to help take care of the kids so we (Bradley and Rebecca) relaxed and enjoyed a daiquiri. It was basically a floating Disneyland!
We get goosebumps remembering everything on the ship – it was so much fun and extraordinary! Disney Cruise Line has a “Midship Detective Agency” where you choose the mystery you want to solve and Disney gives you a card so you can keep track of all your clues. When you put the card up to a painting, it springs to life – it talks to the group, tells you about the mystery you are working to solve, and gives you signals and directions. One mystery lasted two hours because we were running all over the boat.
They are always running first-run movies out near the pool so we got to enjoy Big Friendly Giant, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Jungle Book, and Finding Dory. We also got to ride the Aqua Duct, which is a large slide that zooms you up and down and swings you out over the boat!
The whole group went Goofy Golfing and they also have games like foosball, basketball, and a Tween Club called Edge with activities like scavenger hunts and more.
It’s so easy to see characters on the ship – you only have to wait three or four minutes versus 30 minutes or more at Disneyland. We saw about two per day, and one day we met five in a row! They also have multiple versions of the characters, like Captain Mickey, Traditional Mickey, etc.
The room was incredible! Ours included an ocean view room with a large porthole and window seat. Our room was a really good size and all four of us were comfy and never felt smushed.
You alternate three restaurants. Enchanted Garden has cool flower lights on the ceiling that open and close and the colors on the ceiling change while you eat and Royal Court was very elegant and reminded me of Cinderella. The meals are very gourmet and they have a great selection. My son tried everything, even the escargot at the Royal Court. (He told us it tasted like dirt!)
Animators Palette is animation-themed and they leave markers on your table so you can draw a figure. They provide instructions on how to draw a figure, then they collect the drawings and at the end of your dinner, they animate your drawings on the wall. It’s completely unexpected! They put them to music and put them in Disney clips. Brooke is our artist so she worked really hard on hers and was thrilled – the rest of us weren’t quite as polished
“Our family cannot thank Service Experts enough for this unbelievable opportunity,” Rebecca said after they returned from the trip. “I get emotional when I think about it all. Entering a contest I never thought would go anywhere, finding out we were a finalist, the nail-biting voting stage, the big reveal, researching and choosing which cruise, the elation of going and finally experiencing a sensational vacation. It was such a fun time living it all. Thank you, thank you!”
