Service Experts of Raleigh Helps Man Go Above and Beyond for His Neighbor

June 29, 2016

Last month, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh got a call from a wonderful man named Jimmy from the Raleigh community who told us about a special project he was working on for his neighbor Kyla.

Kyla Tracy is an exceptional 9 year old who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. She relies on a wheelchair to get from one point to another and her house was not wheelchair accessible, mostly because of the size of the chair. When Jimmy became aware of the situation, he thought about remodeling the Tracy family’s house to make it completely wheel-chair friendly. However, due to the age of the home, it was going to be a larger project than he first thought. Finding his way around the obstacles, Jimmy opted to try transforming the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair accessible mini-suite, which would include Kyla’s own playroom, bedroom, bathroom, and dining area.

Ready to get started, Jimmy started calling local businesses, including building supply companies, plumbers, and electricians and everyone said they would be happy to help and contribute services and supplies. He called Service Experts of Raleigh for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) part of Kyla’s new apartment. Two of Service Experts employees went to Kyla’s home to ask more about the remodel and were blown away by how smart and friendly Kyla was and they decided they had to contribute.

Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he had planned to pay for the $12,000 heating and cooling equipment for his little girl’s new mini suite, but with the generosity of Lennox and RE Michel, the team at Service Experts was able to hand the Tracy family an invoice printed with the following:

“We’re more than honored to present you with a complete heating and cooling system free of charge as long as we can all have hugs.”

The team at Service Experts of Raleigh were overwhelmed to help provide such a precious girl with a much-deserved place for her to live that accommodates her wheelchair and allows her to move around safely and efficiently. But there’s still more to do. The Tracy family is trying to purchase a wheel-chair friendly automobile to better transport Kyla and her family.
